Eric and Alexandra brought their people together from across the world to this quiet camp nestled in the trees — Rideau Hill Camp — just outside Ottawa. Less than an hour from the city, and a world away.
Alexandra is a glass artist. Eric is an industrial designer. They live in Australia now, but Eric’s roots are here in Canada. So this was more than a wedding — it was a gathering of family, old friends, and chosen community, all spending a few slow days together in nature. Morning coffee under the pines, paddleboards on the water, games in the field, bunk beds and late-night laughs — all the good stuff.
The wedding itself was simple and beautiful. Unfussy. Honest. The kind of day that feels exactly like the couple themselves. I wish I could have hung out with everyone for longer!

“The house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace. But outside, under the sky, daydreaming is more vivid than dreaming.”
― Gaston Bachelar
As the sun dipped toward the horizon, we snuck away for a few quiet photos. They pulled a canoe out to the jetty, hopped in in their wedding attire, and pushed off into the golden light of the Rideau River. No one else around. Just stillness and the drama of sunset.

Alexandra wore a pink dress — technically a skirt and top combo — which was completely perfect. Her theme was green and pink, a favourite of mine at the moment too. Pink might be an unconventional choice for a wedding outfit, but it suited her beautifully. It was also a practical one, something a lot of brides are looking for, since she can wear both pieces again after the wedding, styled in different ways.

Note the amazing vases you see decorating the tables were made by Alexandra! She shapes each glass by hand into organic forms. Once blown, she then etches native flora onto the glass surface, making every piece truly one of a kind. See more of her amazing work here: https://alexandrahirst.com/work
