Stephen + Rosie’s Cathedral Ceremony by Ottawa Wedding Photographer Sara

This wedding has all kinds of stories in it for me. Some of the guests were members of our local Church and the ceremony was in a building steeped in history (Southwark Cathedral). And that reminds me of the fact that each of these celebrations is first a story that after time will also become history. While it was a very formal ceremony in a very formal location, the couple and their friends and family made it a joyous and sincere celebration. A story and history recorded for generations to come. This image is of the bride and a guest at her wedding, but it is also of two women, both married to vicars, and at the time of the photo one had just retired and the other just stepped into their calling. That could be a whole photo essay in itself…but at a wedding, you just get snippets of life and are free to imagine the pictures outside of the window. As I write this, the groom (Fr Stephen Edmonds) is Vicar at St John’s in Wimbledon.

This is one of my all time favourite images. The bride and groom walking like normal, as though they were dressed in Jeans and a t-shirt like the young man beside them. Along the river Thames past Tower Bridge, London’s defining landmark.
