With every wedding I document, I learn something new. This time, it was a charming Polish tradition: at the start of the reception, the bride and groom are gifted bread and salt – “This gift of bread and salt is symbolic – bread is offered so that the couple may never know hunger, while salt reminds them of life’s difficulties and the importance of learning to cope.“
At the same time, they also each choose from two shot glasses-one with vodka, and the other with water. The one who gets the vodka is said to be the dominant partner in the relationship. I’m keeping it a secret who got which glass—it’s more fun to let you guess!
“Z rodziną najlepiej wychodzi się na zdjęciach.” (“Families look best in photographs.”)
― A Polish quote
Natasza wore a stunning Byzantine Blue dress, a deep, rich hue inspired by the historic Byzantine Empire, often associated with luxury and opulence. The blue of her dress beautifully complemented the floral arrangements, adding an extra touch of harmony to the day.
Their intimate celebration at Loch March Golf & Country Club in Kanata was genuinely special. With fewer than 30 close friends and family in attendance, it was a sincere and unpretentious gathering. Both Natasza’s and John’s daughters read poetry and gave heartfelt speeches, adding to the warmth of the day. The idyllic surroundings and beautiful weather perfectly complemented the relaxed atmosphere of this joyous occasion.
It was a beautiful autumn day, filled with laughter and love. The food was amazing, a culinary delight that left everyone satisfied and content. A Loch March Golf & Country Club Wedding never fails to bring out the magic, and this one was no exception.
“Siamo angeli con un’ala sola: possiamo volare solo se abbracciati.” (“We are one-wing angels: we can only fly together.”)
― A quote from the Neapolitan actor, director, and writer Luciano De Crescenzo, in his film Così Parlò Bellavista.
