The Seagull TLR is a great little 6×6 medium format camera. I started my photography journey using film and this is so much fun to use. This is one of the film cameras I will occasionally use when documenting weddings here in Ottawa.
This is one of my prized possessions. It’s a twin lens reflex medium format film camera. Not it’s not a Rolleiflex, but I don’t care because it takes lovely pictures. It’s a Seagull camera and I bought it in Germany in Frankfurt am Main in 2001. It was sitting around for a while unused and the shutter became stuck. So I decided to look up some videos on YouTube and I found out how to fix it myself. I was going to take it to a repair shop. It was so exciting to do this myself, I’ve just cleaned the blades of the aperture and lo and behold, it’s working! So it is now unstuck and I’m very excited. I’m going to use it some more now and will share photos soon.
Update on the TLR Seagul
Days later, it locked up again and I needed to clean it once more. I think I may need to take it to an actual camera repair shop for servicing by someone more experienced at camera repair than me. Still, it was fun to open it up and be able to use it again.
