Helen wore a 50s style lace tea length A-line dress. Classic but not your typical wedding dress style. But that was typical of this stylishly eclectic event. I recall that Helen’s family described her as someone who didn’t like the spotlight. She even worked backstage in theatre. But on her wedding day, she was the star. That’s one thing I am fascinated by about weddings, I might not get know everything about the people I photograph, but I do get a window into their personalily, even if it is a rare side that only comes out on these rare occasions. The beautiful bouquets cand flower arrangements consisted of all ‘just picked from the meadow’ flowers that were colourful and smelled gorgeous.
The groom was a film-maker and so his friends recorded the ceremony on a vintage film camera. Not something I often get to see at weddings, this was definitely a unique experience and made for a special ambience that matched their style.
The reception in a local pub was warm and cosy and again filled with vintage themes. In the evening a record player and a stack of records was made available for guests to choose from their favourite vinyl to dance to.
